Below are some great recipes, tips and ideas to think about when planning and packing up for a weekend of camping with the kids.
NOTE: I want to make a mention before I start giving you recipe ideas that most of these recipes are directed towards someone who is cooking in the kitchen. When taking notes on these recipes just remember you can easily make these on a grill that is placed on top of hot coals or a small fire. Don’t forget to bring some hotdogs and brats!

The easiest choice for this meal is Tinfoil Dinners. Just bring along your favorite ingredients and let it sizzle on the fire.
Perfect for camping in the wilderness or a bonfire in the backyard, these dinners are a backpacker\'s favorite. This is a great meal for campers because you can put anything inside the tinfoil to cook. Feel free to substitute you favorite ingredients (canned or fresh).
Ingredients
Butter
1 large steak, any cheap cut will do (tofu is also great for vegetarians)
1 large piece tinfoil (use 1 piece per person, so adjust accordingly)
1 onion, chopped
1 can of potatoes, cut up (or fresh)
1 can of mushrooms, cut up (or fresh)
1 can of peas, drained
Shredded cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Celery salt (optional)
Tabasco sauce (optional)
Directions
Lay tinfoil flat and coat non-shiny side with thin layer of butter to prevent burning. Place meat/tofu in the middle of the foil and pile cut up veggies on and around the center. Sprinkle cheese on top. Fold tinfoil carefully and be careful not to rip. If you have access to a grill, just stick it on. If you have access to a campfire, make sure you have strong, hot coals and rest on grate above or in the coals themselves. Leave in for 15-30 minutes depending on the fire, but check on meat periodically. Open and enjoy!

The best dessert that is associated with Camping is smores. This delicious dessert is really easy and so delicious.
Ingredients
Graham Crackers
Hershey Milk Chocolate Candy Bars
Big Marshmallows
Peanut Butter (optional)
Directions
Give each family member two graham cracker rectangle sheets. If you are using peanut butter, have them spread one of the sheets with peanut butter and then place the chocolate bar on top. Have them set this down on a paper plate. Now give each family member 1-2 marshmallows and have them roast in the fire. After done, place the marshmallows inside the “chocolate sandwich” and close. Enjoy!
Make sure to pack the cameras and insect repellant. Have a safe and wonderful family camping trip!
