Understanding Chakras

The word chakra translates to wheel or circle and theories believe it links the human body and mind into one.  It was first originated in India and it’s a center of activity that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy.  What does this mean to you?  By getting a better understanding, you will recognize which chakras are stronger and which ones are weaker within your own body.  You may be able to work on the weaker ones to experience more of what life has to offer you.

There are six of these energy wheels stacked vertically, branching from the central nervous system from the forehead to the pelvic area.  Each circle has a different meaning corresponding to various aspects of consciousness.  The chakra on the crown of the head is said to be the highest power controlling all the others.  When this is active in a human being, he or she sees no limits and have reached most of their human potential.  It connects the central nervous system with the hypothalamus.  The thalamus is thought to have a major role in the physical basis of consciousness.

The third eye or the forehead chakra regulates the instincts of sleep and awakening and also contains the pineal gland which produces melatonin.  It is known as the area of perception and relates to our intuition and spiritual awareness. The throat chakra, is linked to communication and expression.  It is close to the thyroid gland which produces a hormone that causes growth and maturation.  This area is often weak in many people, unless they are extremely charismatic.  Then, they are able to analyze things in a more advanced way to better lie, keep secrets, and imagine things the way they want to view the world to get what they want.

When the heart chakra is activated, the person reaches an emotionally deeper understanding of oneself and others.  They are able to feel pain when love is a part of their life as well as when it’s gone.  It’s responsible for fighting off disease and stress as it’s connected to our immune system.  The chakra located in the stomach area plays a role in digestion and converts food into energy for the entire body.  It also makes people understand how their actions affect the world.  The sacral chakra is located in the groin and relates to sexual hormones responsible for reproduction and mood swings.  We also find creativity in this area.  The root chakra, located on the bottom of the spinal cord, relates to the adrenal gland which is activated by basic human survival and security.

Now you should have a basic understanding of how chakras relate to each part of our mind and body.  Which one do you need to work on?
