Yes, that's my topic in this article. I've heard these reasons, and more, for not setting and pursuing goals. The people that give these reasons really believe them. And, every one of these reasons work! What does that mean? It means that if you use any of them, they will help you NOT reach your goal!

When you come to a fork in the road, how do you know which one to take? The well-known quotation from Lewis Carroll's "Alice In Wonderland" addresses this question so well:
Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?

Are You Too Old to Have Goals?

I was visiting with a friend the other day; we were talking about some of the things I have written about setting goals. I was surprised to hear her say: "Oh, I'm too old to have goals!" Yes, I was surprised, especially since we're both about the same age! I responded that you're never too old to have goals, but I've been thinking about it a lot ever since. Is there a time when you're "too old" to have goals? Let's take a look at a few examples.

I received an interesting question from Mary Ann S. on Gather.com. She had read one of my recent articles, "Eliminate Negative, Achieve Goals," and had a question. "I teach college English where I see students sabotage themselves and who also let others sabotage them. Why do friends and family members put obstacles in their paths?" She also mentioned how people will tempt their friends who are on diets with sweets and other "off-diet" foods.
